Midnight is a young black kitty found on the streets of Kingston, Jamaica. She's likely under one year old and she is already pregnant. If she is not spayed very soon, it will be too late. Right now, the rescue simply cannot afford another litter of kittens being born on the streets. This is why Midnight urgently needs your help.
We named her Midnight because she only comes out to eat at night. We noticed her almost immediately because of her jet black fur. At first, I thought she might be the sister of another rescued street name Noki. Noki was adopted just a month ago, and we didn’t expect to see another black cat in this colony so soon.
Like many street cats, Midnight was very cautious at first. She would eat quickly and run away. But over time, she began to trust me. She allowed me to get closer, and that’s when I realized just how sweet she is. Midnight is gentle, friendly, and learning that humans can be kind.
Because Midnight is already pregnant, her spay is more complex and time sensitive. The cost of her spay surgery is US$110. Her recovery care is $6 per day, during which time we will also be seeking adopters so she has a real chance at a safe, loving home.
Every day matters for Midnight. Spaying her now prevents more kittens from being born into hardship and gives her the opportunity for a healthier, safer future.

Why Spaying Pregnant Cats in Jamaica Matters
Spaying a pregnant street cat in Jamaica is one of the most effective ways to protect both the mother and future kittens. When a cat gives birth on the streets, her kittens face immediate risks like hunger, illness, and injury. Many do not survive their first weeks, and those who do are often left to struggle without proper care.
By sponsoring a spay, donors are helping to prevent these kittens from being born into danger in the first place. It also protects the mother from the risks of pregnancy and childbirth, which can be life-threatening for a young cat living outdoors.
Your support not only saves a single cat, but also reduces the number of vulnerable animals who will suffer in the future. Every spay is a step toward a safer, healthier community for cats in Jamaica.
Every cat we help is one step closer to a safer future for cats in Jamaica. Thank you for reading, sharing and supporting OnlyPaws Cat Rescue's work. Together, we can break the cycle of suffering and give cats like Midnight a chance at a better life.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Midnight need a spay now?
Midnight is already pregnant, and every day that passes increases the chance of kittens being born into dangerous street conditions. Spaying her now prevents more suffering and helps protect her health.
Why is spaying a pregnant cat more expensive?
A spay during pregnancy is called a spay-abort and is more complex and requires extra care. The surgery takes more time, and the recovery needs close monitoring to ensure the mother stays safe and healthy.
What happens to the kittens if Midnight is not spayed?
If Midnight gives birth on the streets, her kittens face serious risks including hunger, illness, injury, and abandonment. Many street kittens do not survive their first weeks without proper care.
Can I sponsor part of the cost?
Yes. Any amount helps. Even a small donation moves Midnight closer to surgery and recovery. Every contribution matters.
Will Midnight be adopted after her recovery?
Yes. During her recovery period, we will actively seek adopters for Midnight. Our goal is to find her a safe, loving home once she is healthy and ready.
How can I be sure my donation is used properly?
OnlyPaws Cat Rescue Jamaica is committed to transparency and responsible care. Donations go directly to the cost of the spay surgery, recovery, and ongoing care for the cat. We also provide updates on the cat’s progress whenever possible on our social media pages.
